Symposia

INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIA ON THE TAXONOMY OF CULTIVATED PLANTS

During the last 25 years there have been five such symposia and HORTAX has been involved in contributing to, planning or running four of them. The first took place in Wageningen in 1985, a few years before Hortax was founded.

The SIXTH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM is scheduled to be held in Beijing in 2012.

The FIFTH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM was held in Wageningen, The Netherlands, 15-19 October 2007 and organised jointly by the Biosystematics Group/Botanical Gardens of Wageningen University and HORTAX.

HORTAX was one of the principal sponsors of the FOURTH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM, which was held within the XXVIth International Horticultural Congress, Toronto, Canada, 11-17 August 2002.

The THIRD INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM was held at Pollock Halls, Edinburgh, 20-26 July l998. It was organised by HORTAX with generous sponsorship from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and the Royal Horticultural Society. The symposium was attended by 168 participants from 30 countries.
